STARS ON THE RISE:
FOSTER THE PEOPLE
Foster the People is an American indie pop band formed in Los Angeles, California in 2009. The group is composed of Mark Foster (vocals, keyboards, piano, synthesizers, guitar, programming, percussion), Cubbie Fink (bass and backing vocals), and Mark Pontius (drums and extra percussion) The group's music, described as melodic dance-infused pop and rock, spans many genres.
Mark Foster founded the band in 2009 when he was struggling to become a musician.
Mark Foster played at nightclubs and had several night jobs before founding the band. He met Mark Pontius also known as “Poncy”, he was part of a band called “Malbec” but he left it so he joined Foster as Poncy stated: this dude has talent, he has great lyrics and he composed music as well sometimes in guitar and sometimes in his computer so I decided to give it a shot. Jacob Fink known, as “Cubbie” was a long time friend of Foster he joined the band later.
Mark Foster was a jingle commercial writer so he had experience-writing songs, he wrote “Pumped Up Kicks” in 45 minutes but he didn’t knew that this song was the door to their wonderful career, the song became a crossover hit in the United States. At first the bands name was Foster and the People but people misheard it as Foster the People so at the end it stayed like that.
Foster the People currently have only one album called “Torches” it had great sales through out the world. Currently they are in their 2012 tour but they will focus to write and compose their second album.
